Undergraduate Program
The aim of the undergraduate curriculum is to prepare graduates for professional engineering careers as educated, responsible citizens who have both the motivation and ability for lifelong personal and professional growth. The program provides communication, and practical, analytical, mathematical and computational skills. It is also aimed at developing professional skills which are needed in the subsequent career.
Undergraduate degree programs lead to two main degrees, namely:
  • Applied-Science Engineering in Power Plant Mechanics
  • Mechanical Engineering

Students are required to complete 140 units to satisfy the requirements for the BSc degree. Most courses are worth three units but there are courses with one-four units on offer. The project is taken on in the final year and is worth three units.  Industrial experience is an integral part of the programs. Students must complete a total of 120 working days of industrial experience as internship between second and third years, and between third and fourth years and submit and defend a report describing this experience.  
Applied-Science Engineering in Power Plant Mechanics
The Department of Mechanical and Energy Engineering at Shahid Beheshti University (SBU) was founded in 1968. It is the only department in Iran that offers power plant engineering as one of its undergraduate programs. Here, more than 30 faculties work in independent professorships.
We use innovation and technology to provide reliable and economic electricity from:
-        steam power plants;
-        water power plants;
-        combined gas turbines; 
-        renewable power stations.
Based on a combination of well experienced and young fresh faculties, our program for power plant engineering is supported by the tradition of teaching and research excellence.
In our bachelor program, we have several courses for different kinds of power plants in addition to common courses that are taught in other mechanical engineering departments, and our students are completely familiar with power plant principles and components.

The success of the program can be measured by the large proportion of graduates who engaged appropriate and challenging positions in power plant industry, government, and universities at home and abroad.
