Austrian ambassador to Tehran meets SBU president

According to the report of Public Relations Office, the recently appointed ambassador of Austria in Iran, Mr. Stefan Scholz and an accompanying delegation visited Dr. Hassan Sadough, the President of SBU, on Monday October 2nd, 2017. A couple of the university directors attended the meeting as well. After welcoming the guests by the President, he said “I hope fields of academic relations come into being with Austria in the same ways as our expanded relations with other universities in European United Nations; because in addition to the importance of the relation and cooperation with the European United Nations universities for SBU, the Sciences, Research and Technology Ministry also supports the expansion of the cooperation.”
 
He also added: “despite the present misunderstandings in scientific and cultural relations, there is a union opinion on expansion of cooperation between Iranian universities and European United Nations universities. Today, we are so pleased there is not only any misunderstanding about various scientific and academic cooperation between Iranian universities and European United Nations universities, but also these activities have been increased in a Post-JCPOA (Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action) environment.”
 
At the end of his conversation, the President of SBU stated: “there are various cooperation fields between European United Nations universities, specifically Austrian universities, and SBU, Shahid Abbasspour Campus, Ekbatan Campus, Scientific-Research park of Zirab and Aabsard.

Mr. Stefan Scholz, the recently appointed ambassador of Austria among thanking the warm greetings of the university attendants, said: “it is not a long time that I have presented my credentials to Dr. Rohani, the Honourable President of Islamic Republic of Iran; so, there are too many suitable opportunities for having mutual cooperation”. He also added: “Before I was appointed to the Ambassador of Austrian embassy in Iran, I had the responsibility of managing the department of the strategic planning in the foreign countries in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Austria and through this job I became interested in the establishment of the more cooperation fields in the scope of culture and academy between our countries”.
 
Scholz expressed: “the thing that should be established, increased and strengthened between societies and organizations is a relation that can come into existence between people, universities, scientists and non-governmental organizations. On account of the job I had, it became more important than before to me to designate the kind of the context of the cooperation and their fulfilment”.
Austria’s Ambassador added: “to me, as an ambassador, it is important to establish multilateral and expanded relations because these expanded relations lead to less resistance against these days’ politics”.
He stated: “European politics is in a centralized form. In spite of Europe’s centralized diplomacy, Austria adopted an impartial position even in the scope of JCPOA”.
Scholz emphasised: “passing two years after JCPOA, it’s time to provide the fulfilling fields of plans seriously. At the moment, in Brussels, various commissions are ready to help Iran in the course of strengthening relation. Despite the fact that sanctions are not completely lifted, Vienna is ready to consult about expanding the cooperation between Iran and European United. Juridical international ways, that steps will be taken in Europe, can be adopted for establishing bilateral and multilateral cooperation”.

At the other section of this meeting, Dr. Shirani, Director of the International Academic Collaboration Office of SBU, among introducing different departments of the university briefly, also mentioned the cooperation fields in the scope of water, energy and environment.
After having the meeting with the President of university, Dr. Sadough, the Austrian delegation visited the Deparment of German Literature and Language, Faculty of Letters and Human Sciences, Medicinal Plants and Drugs Research Institutes and Environmental Sciences Research Institute and also had a discussion with the related attendants and faculty members.
