High-ranking delegation from Eurasian National University (ENU) visits SBU

A high-ranking academic delegation from Eurasian National University (ENU), Kazakhstan, headed by Professor Yerlan Sydykov, the Honorable Rector of the university visited Shahid Beheshti University (SBU) on Monday, May 8th, 2018 and had a meeting with Professor Sadough, the President of SBU.

Vice-Rector, Dean of the International Affairs Faculty, Head of the International Relations Department and one of the academic members of ENU visited the laboratories of Laser and Plasma Research Institute and the facilities of Medicinal Plants and Drugs Research Institute of SBU. They expressed their consent to send Kazakh students for short-term and long-term professional laser programs and to fulfill mutual projects on species and medicinal plants studies.

The delegation visited the Faculty of Letters and Human Sciences and met the Vice-President of the faculty, Head of the Educating Persian to Non-Persian Speakers Centre and a couple of academic members. At this meeting, they reviewed the possibility of mutual collaboration in the fields of Oriental Studies, Archeology, History, Persian Language and Russian Language.

After visiting different departments and faculties of SBU, they had a meeting with Prof. Sadough at the place of the Presidential Building. At this meeting, with the presence of Dr. Shirani, Director of International Academic Collaboration Office of SBU, they discussed the ways of expanding and developing bilateral academic collaborations based on the MoU signed during their visit to Astana.

Expressing his consent from visiting different Technology departments of SBU, Prof. Yerlan Sydykov mentioned that he hopes both sides could have more cooperation in these fields and informed their readiness for mobilizing students, holding mutual seminars and admitting PhD students. He also suggested holding mutual assembly between the Rectors of top universities of Kazakhstan and Iran either in Astana or Tehran.

Referring to the numerous cultural commons between Iran and Kazakhstan, Prof. Sadough stressed out making use of these commons. He also mentioned that because of the neighboring virtue as well as religious and cultural commons with Kazakhstan, SBU considers offering  discounts on the tuition fee for the Kazakh students who want to study at SBU.

At the end of the meeting, Prof. Sadough said he will mention the necessities of developing academic relations with Kazakh universities in the meeting on the challenges of the relations with foreign universities, which will be held with the presence of Honorable Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Science, Research and Technology on Thursday, May 10th, 2018. He said he will also put on the table the suggestion by Prof. Sydykov on holding mutual assemblies of the Rectors of top universities of Kazakhstan and Iran either in Tehran or Astana and stress the importance of holding such assemblies in the meeting with Presidents of top universities of Iran on Friday, May 11th, 2018.
