Head of Middle East Office of AUF and officials from French Embassy in Tehran attend SBU

Mr. Herve Sabourin, Head of the Middle East Office of Agence universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF), Mr. Jean-Christophe Bonte, Attache for Science and Technology of the Embassy of France in Iran and Mr. Augustin Plard, Scientific and Academic Affairs Officer of the Embassy of France in Tehran attended Shahid Beheshti University (SBU) on Monday, October 22, 2018 and met with Dr. Shirani, Director of International Academic Collaboration Office as well as the officials of the Faculty of Law. Referring to the memorandum of understanding signed between the Iranian Ministry of Science, Research and Technology and AUF in June this year, Mr. Sabourin spoke of the support of AUF for Iranian PhD scholarship students at AUF member universities. Dr. Shirani described the activities of SBU to launch the program of International Commercial Law in French at the Faculty of Law in collaboration with a consortium of several French universities with the centrality of University of Paris 1 (Sorbonne). Then, Dr. Beigzadeh, Dean of the Faculty of Law and Dr. Yavari, Associate Dean for Research of the Faculty of Law presented the details of the collaborations on establishing the MA program of International Commercial Law.

Mr. Sabourin said that given the great importance of this project, maximum financial support would be provided by AUF, and this was highlighted at the meeting held at the central office of AUF in Paris with the attendance of the Iranian deputy minister. Also, Mr. Bonte expressed his satisfaction with the progress made in launching the program and expressed the readiness of the French embassy to make the necessary coordination with the French universities present at the consortium.

On the sidelines of the meeting, 22 volumes of specialized law books in French were awarded to the Faculty of Law by the Cultural Department of the French Embassy.
