ACM programing team of SBU wins first place at 2018 Regional Competition

ACM programing team of Shahid Beheshti University (SBU) headed by Dr. Vahidi Asl, a faculty member of the Faculty of Engineering and Computer Sciences, won the championship of the Kabul regional competition and was qualified to attend the 2019 world championship. This is the fifth consecutive year that SBU team is among the 140 final teams and the second consecutive year that the team achieved the first place at regional competitions. It is worth mentioning that each year 3,000 universities in the world participate in these regional competitions in order to achieve the world championship allowance.


Moreover, the computer programing world championship (ACM-ICPC) is the most authentic computer contest and the largest academic event in the world. The competition takes place annually in one of the countries of the world, according to determination of the scientific committee. This competition will be held in Porto, Portugal from March 31 to April 5, 2019. Around 50,000 students from 3,000 different universities in the second half of 2018 participated in the regional competitions in different parts of the world to qualify for the 2019 finals. The second ACM regional competition of West Asia was held on November 15 and 16, 2018 in Kabul, hosted by the University of Kateb.
