8th meeting of National Working Group on International Scientific Cooperation with Russia

The 8th meeting of the National Working Group on International Scientific Cooperation with Russia was held in person and virtually at Shahid Beheshti University (SBU) as the national authority for scientific and international cooperation with Russia and Kazakhstan.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Nasiri, president of SBU and head of the National Working Group on International Scientific Cooperation with Russia, Dr. Goudarzi, academic advisor and supervisor of students in Russia, Belarus and Central Asia, Dr. Abtahi, vice president for research and technology of  SBU and former scientific adviser of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Russia, Dr. Karimi, secretary of the meeting of top universities of Iran and Russia, and Dr. Karimian, director of International Scientific Cooperation Directorate of SBU. The meeting examined the conditions for attending the 6th meeting of the presidents of top universities of Iran and Russia and responded to the questions of the international relations vice-presidents and directors of the member universities and research institutes of the Working Group on International Scientific Cooperation with Russia and heads of some universities and research institutes.
Emphasizing the importance of this meeting, Dr. Karimian said: “Considering the upcoming meeting of the presidents of top Iranian and Russian universities in Moscow, this meeting can be very useful for delegations from Iran.”
He added: “Since 2015, SBU has been selected as the national authority for scientific and international cooperation with Russia and Kazakhstan, and perhaps this meeting can be considered the largest of its kind.”
In the following, Dr. Abtahi, the vice president for research and technology of the university, pointed out the scientific capacities of cooperation with Russia and said: “According to the international scientific measurement systems, most of the disciplines in Iran and Russia have had a balanced progress in the last 20 years. Russia has a special superiority in the fields of physics and astronomy, and in addition, it has been strong in technical and engineering fields, as well as in chemistry and material science.”
He pointed out: “The difference between the scientific map of Iran and Russia is that Iran is very strong in medical sciences and has a rapid growth trend in this field. Our country also has strong points in the fields of humanities, including social sciences and mathematics.”
