On December 25, 2024, a webinar was held with Dr. Behrooz Abtahi discussing marine resource activities in INOC countries. Dr. Abtahi is a graduate of the University of Tehran and the Moscow Institute of Oceanography (VNIRO). He has been an academic staff member since 1993 and is currently a Professor and Vice-President of Shahid Beheshti University in Tehran. He served as the Director of the Iranian National Institute for Oceanography and Atmospheric Science (INIOAS) from 2017 to 2021 and as the Head of the UNESCO Regional Education and Research Center on Oceanography for West Asia. He has led and participated in numerous research projects in Iranian marine.

Hamid Lahijani is a professor and tenured faculty member of the Iranian National Institute for Oceanography and Atmospheric Science (INIOAS) since 1998. Dr. Lahijani discussed the perspective of mineral resources in the Makran bottom sediments.

The Inter-Islamic Network on Oceanography (INOC) is one of the networks of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) that conducts studies on the promotion and cooperation of science and technology activities among the member countries of the Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation (COMSTECH).

INOC's main objectives are to establish effective collaborations in marine research areas in Islamic countries, ensure the sustainability of these collaborations, strengthen communication between COMSTECH and INOC member countries, and ensure the participation of stakeholders in the processes, among other goals.
