The Sixth Iranian Conference on Protein and Peptide Science and Technology was held at Shahid Beheshti University with the participation of distinguished academics, researchers, and leading pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies.

Opening the event, Dr. Aghamiri, President of Shahid Beheshti University, highlighted the university’s commitment to advancing national scientific development. He emphasized the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration and the role of emerging technologies—such as artificial intelligence, microelectronics, quantum science, and laser technologies—in accelerating research.

Dr. Ghassempour, Chair of the conference, noted the successful continuation of this national event and acknowledged the support of industry partners. This year’s program included six specialized workshops in recombinant proteins, LC-MS, analytical software, peptide chromatography, and mass spectrometry, reflecting the expanding scope of the field.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Mohammad Pirvaram, CEO of Acto Biochem, underscored Iran’s growing capabilities in genetics and biotechnology, while calling attention to global biosafety and biosecurity challenges. He emphasized the need for robust technical and regulatory frameworks, especially amid rapid advances in artificial intelligence.

Dr. Reza Yousefi, President of the Iranian Peptide Society, outlined plans to establish a National Protein and Peptide Science Laboratory, stressing that investment in advanced technologies is essential for increasing Iran’s minimal share in the global protein-based pharmaceutical market.

The conference concluded with a reaffirmation of the pivotal role of proteins in life sciences and the importance of strengthening national research infrastructure in this strategic field.
