Final Round of the 24th Chinese Proficiency Competition Held

The final round of the 24th "Chinese Bridge" Chinese Proficiency Competition for university students was held on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at Molavi Hall, Faculty of Letters and Humanities, Shahid Beheshti University.

According to the Office of Scientific and International Cooperation, the event was attended by Mr. Kong Peiwu, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Iran, the Cultural Counselor of the Chinese Embassy, Dr. Seyed Mahmoudreza Aghamiri, President of Shahid Beheshti University, Dr. Abtahi, Director of Scientific and International Cooperation, Dr. Vaezi, Dean of the Faculty of Letters and Humanities, Dr. Raeisi, Head of the Chinese Language Department, as well as a group of faculty members and students.

The 24th edition of the Chinese Proficiency Competition, held under the motto “One World, One Family,” took place at Shahid Beheshti University—the first university in Iran to offer Chinese language courses, starting 30 years ago. This year, 16 students from four universities—University of Tehran, Allameh Tabataba'i University, University of Isfahan, and Shahid Beheshti University—competed for top honors.

Participants showcased their Chinese language skills through keynote speeches and performances of traditional Chinese arts on stage. A written test assessing their knowledge of Chinese language and culture was also administered a day before the competition.

In his remarks, Dr. Aghamiri, President of Shahid Beheshti University, referred to the university as the “home” of the Chinese language in Iran. He emphasized the institution’s commitment to expanding academic and international cooperation and strengthening Chinese language and cultural education.

Mr. Kong Peiwu, Ambassador of China to Iran, noted that the competition serves as a "bridge" to promote cultural exchange and friendship between China and other countries. He highlighted the deep historical ties between China and Iran and emphasized that language has always served as a bridge between the hearts of people.

He added: “The Chinese Bridge competition is a new platform for connecting Iranian and Chinese youth in this new era.” He also expressed hope for a brighter future in Iran-China collaboration.

In this round of the competition, four students from Shahid Beheshti University achieved top honors:

Mohana Soltani – Champion

Behnaz Kohestani – Runner-up

Sarvar Aflaki – Excellence in Performing Arts

Amir Panahi – Excellence in Pronunciation and Expression
