
In line with expanding scientific, educational, and research cooperation, Shahid Beheshti University and the University of Salento, Italy, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU).
According to the Office of Scientific and International Cooperation, Professor Fabio Pollice, President of the University of Salento, and Dr. Enrico Ascalone, Dean of the Faculty of Archaeology, visited Shahid Beheshti University and toured various departments. Professor Pollice also met with Dr. Seyed Mahmoud Reza Aghamiri, President of Shahid Beheshti University.
During this meeting, both sides emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral collaborations and officially signed the MoU. The agreement outlines cooperation in various areas including: Advancement of educational, research, and cultural initiatives through joint or dual undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral programs in selected fields; Research sabbatical opportunities for faculty and PhD students; Collaboration on research projects; Joint organization of workshops, seminars, and similar academic events; Sharing of academic data and published research; Exchange of postgraduate students; Mutual faculty visits and academic exchange programs.
Prior to the signing ceremony, the University of Salento delegation visited the central campus, several faculties, and research institutes at Shahid Beheshti University to become familiar with the university’s academic and research capacities. Professor Pollice also held a meeting with the faculty and administration of the School of Architecture and Urban Planning to discuss opportunities for academic collaboration.
It is worth noting that the University of Salento is a prestigious Italian institution with over 18,000 students, located in the city of Lecce. Known for its diverse academic programs and focus on advanced research, it is considered a prominent destination for international students. The University of Salento encompasses several faculties, including: Humanities and Social Sciences: History, Philosophy, Social Sciences, Psychology Engineering and Innovation Sciences: Electrical, Mechanical, and Computer Engineering, and Emerging Technologies Life and Environmental Sciences: Biology, Environmental Sciences, and Biotechnologies Mathematics and Physics: Applied Mathematics, Theoretical and Experimental Physics Economics and Management: Business Administration, Economics, and Accounting Law: Public, International, and Private Law Cultural Heritage: Archaeology, Art History, and Conservation of Historical Monuments.
