Dr. Gagik Badalians Gholi Kandi, professor at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Water, and Environmental Science, published the following note on the occasion of the birth of Jesus Christ (PBUH):

Greetings and Salutations,

The Christmas celebration commemorates the birth of the Prophet of peace and friendship, Jesus Christ (PBUH), a prophet who, even as he was being crucified, prayed to Almighty God for the forgiveness of sinners. Christmas is a family celebration, presenting the family as a safe environment filled with love and cooperation. It also underscores the importance of the family as the foundation of human societies, as the health and happiness of families play a pivotal role in creating favorable conditions for social well-being.

The turn of the Gregorian year (January) is also an opportunity, accompanied by public and family celebrations, to reflect on and evaluate the actions of individuals and societies in the hope that the outcomes are favorable. Consequently, the new year heralds a year full of hope and prosperity for a happy world committed to truth and justice—a world that aids the oppressed and needy, free from violence and greed.

As we approach the final days of 2024, we reflect on a year filled with joys and sorrows, concerns and hopes, successes, and perhaps some failures. Once again, the Christmas and New Year celebrations have arrived. Why do Christians strive to be joyful, grateful, and participate in public celebrations during these days?

During this time, a light of hope shines in hearts, which has always been the driving force of humanity and has grown brighter over centuries and millennia under the divine teachings of the great Abrahamic prophets. These prophets have outlined a path for believers in the one true God to walk in the direction of truth and justice, kindness and friendship, goodwill and deep thought, as well as comprehensive insight. They have also urged individuals to strive to be beneficial while leaving a positive impact on the lives of others.

Thus, these days are a precious opportunity to move beyond daily routines and pay greater attention to these points, rekindling our hope for elevating our lives and contributing to the development and progress of our beloved country, Iran.

With hopes for bright days ahead, the fulfillment of all aspirations, success in endeavors, and happiness in life, I wish the best for all colleagues, esteemed students at Shahid Beheshti University, and all the dear people of Iran. May God bless you all.
