Students of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering (Power Control) at Shahid Beheshti University have successfully designed and built a “Ground Fault Locator for Power Plant Generators” under an industrial contract.
According to the Public Relations Office of Shahid Beheshti University, the device successfully passed specialized tests at Shahid Abbaspour Power Plant. After being installed on a 250 MW hydro generator, it delivered accurate and reliable results and received final approval from the project’s client.
Based on the faculty’s announcement, the system has no domestic or international equivalent. It was developed through applied industrial research conducted at the High- and Medium-Voltage Equipment Protection Laboratory of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering. This achievement represents a significant step toward enhancing indigenous technical expertise and improving the reliability of the country’s power plant equipment. The project was carried out with the participation of the master’s students involved in the contract, namely Eng. Shakiba, Eng. Acharash, Eng. Ruhnavaz, and Eng. Sajadi.
