The second event of the "Iran-Iraq Science Week" was held from January 18 to 20, 2025, at Al-Zahra University in the holy city of Karbala, with the participation of Dr. Aghamiri, President of Shahid Beheshti University, Dr. Abtahi, Director of International Scientific Cooperation from Shahid Beheshti University, senior officials of higher education, and university presidents from both Iran and Iraq. The event aimed to expand scientific, research, and technological cooperation between the two countries.

This event was held for the second time (after its implementation in October 2024 in Mashhad) as a platform for exchanging knowledge and fostering scientific and technological interactions between educational and research institutions of the two countries, hosted by the Iraqi government.

According to the International Scientific Cooperation Department of the university, the conference was attended by Dr. Simayi Sarraf, Minister of Science, Research, and Technology, Hojjat al-Islam Wal-Muslimeen Rostami, Head of the Representative Office of the Supreme Leader, Dr. Habiba, President of the Organization for Student Affairs, Dr. Rezaeifar, Head of the Office for Scientific and International Cooperation at the Ministry of Science, and a number of presidents and managers from major universities in the Islamic Republic of Iran. Also present were Dr. Al-Aboudi, Minister of Higher Education in Iraq, his deputies, and senior representatives from the country.

Iran-Iraq Science Week was planned to deepen the friendly relations between the two countries and foster international interactions in higher education, science, and technology, in line with the strategic goals of the Muslim countries of Iran and Iraq. The event aimed to promote the interaction of major universities and research centers in both countries, create a communication bridge between the universities of the two countries and those of the world, establish joint strategic projects in science and technology, train faculty members and specialists in emerging technologies, facilitate exchanges of professors and students at all levels and disciplines, including engineering, basic sciences, mathematics, humanities, medicine, and agriculture, and create the necessary infrastructure for academic exchanges between faculty members of Islamic countries. Other goals included joint investments in the development of science and technology, establishing business markets based on science and technology with a focus on global tech markets, and cooperation in the publication of the latest scientific and technological achievements between the two countries' scholars.

Due to the interest of Iraqi universities in developing relations with Shahid Beheshti University, multiple memorandums of understanding were signed on the second day of the event between Dr. Aghamiri, President of Shahid Beheshti University, and the presidents of several major universities in Iraq, including Al-Mustansiriya, Karbala, Al-Zahra, and Warith Al-Anbiya Universities.
