The second specialized meeting of editors of scientific journals indexed in the international databases Web of Science (WoS) and Scopus was held at the Faculty of Economics and Political Sciences of Shahid Beheshti University, organized by the Islamic World Science Citation and Monitoring Institute (ISC).
According to Shahid Beheshti University’s Public Relations Office, during the meeting, Samad Nejad-Ebrahimi, Director General of the Office of Research Policy-Making and Planning at the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology, referred to the indexing of around 125 Iranian journals in international databases over the past four years. He described this achievement as the result of purposeful planning and coordinated efforts by the country’s scientific community, and emphasized the importance of maintaining journal quality after indexing.
Highlighting scientific journals as key pillars of the nation’s scientific authority, he noted that inclusion in international indexes is not the end of the journey, and that any negligence may lead to journals being removed from these databases.
In the continuation of the meeting, speakers reviewed the opportunities and challenges of artificial intelligence in scholarly publishing, stressing the need for responsible, transparent, and ethics-based use of this technology. They identified scientific misconduct as the most serious potential risk arising from the improper use of AI.
This meeting was held with the aim of empowering editors, enhancing the quality of scientific journals, and aligning with the latest international standards in scholarly publishing.
