A joint meeting between the Vice Presidency for Research and Technology of Shahid Beheshti University and the Acting Cultural Attaché of the Republic of Iraq in Iran was held at the Office of the Vice President for Research, with the aim of expanding and strengthening scientific, research, and industrial cooperation.
According to the Public Relations Office of Shahid Beheshti University, the meeting was attended by Dr. Hamidi, Vice President for Research and Technology; Dr. Golban, Director of the Office of Industry Relations; Dr. Haider Mohammad Ali Nassar, Acting Cultural Attaché of Iraq; Eng. Shahrokhi, colleague of the Iraqi Cultural Attaché in Iran; and Ms. Amidi, Advisor to the Office of Industry Relations.
At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Hamidi referred to the cultural and religious commonalities as well as the shared border between Iran and Iraq, emphasizing Shahid Beheshti University’s interest in expanding scientific interactions and developing bilateral cooperation.
Dr. Haider Mohammad Ali Nassar highlighted the Iraqi government’s interest in sending Iraqi students to the Islamic Republic of Iran and stressed the importance of facilitating and strengthening communication between Shahid Beheshti University, the Iraqi Embassy, and Iraq’s Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. Referring to the Iraqi government’s concern about the recruitment of its students by other countries, including the United States, Jordan, and Turkey, he called for official correspondence from the University to the Iraqi Embassy so that, following review, Shahid Beheshti University could be proposed to Iraq’s Ministry of Higher Education for inclusion in the list of approved institutions for student sponsorship.
Dr. Golban, Director of the University’s Office of Industry Relations, also outlined strategies for expanding cooperation with Iraqi universities, industrial centers, and research institutions, and introduced the University’s capabilities in the fields of humanities, engineering, and basic sciences. At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides expressed hope for the expansion of relations between Shahid Beheshti University and the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq and emphasized the development of effective and sustainable scientific and research collaboration between the two countries.
