The team of the Faculty of Law of Shahid Beheshti University (SBU) won the championship in the first national round of the FDI Moot Court Competition and qualified for the international round to be held in Berlin.

The team of SBU consisted of Mohammadreza Afshari (mooter), an International Trade Law master's student; Elnaz Eftekhari (mooter), also an International Trade Law master's student; Zahra Ghaderi Khorasgani (researcher), an International Law master's student; Parsa Morsali (researcher); and Seyedeh Nasrin Mousavi (researcher), both undergraduate law students. They were coached by Kimia Hajpiri and Maedeh Saffari.

The law firm Vakil Khoob hosted the first national round of the Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) moot court competition in August 2024, with participation from six of Iran's top universities.

The FDI Moot, established in 2006 by the CILS and five other educational and legal institutions, focuses on international foreign direct investment arbitration. Each year, a hypothetical case, addressing disputes between host governments and foreign investors, is published on the official website, and participating teams must present written submissions and oral arguments as representatives of both the investor and the host state.

The national round of the competition took place on August 5-6, 2024, judged by a panel including Dr. Mohsen Mohebbi, Dr. Majid Ghamami, Dr. Mohammad Jafar Ghanbari Jahromi, Dr. Oveis Rezvanian, Dr. Masoud Mahboob, Maziar Aghasi Javid, Ameneh Mozouni, Zahra Khatib, Zahra Ezheei, Zahra Ardalani, Mahtab Javadi, Hengameh Elahifar, Amir Mahdi Dehghan Anari, Seyed Hamed Mousavi, Nima Shojaei, and Meysam Salehi.

SBU's team emerged victorious by outperforming all participating teams and earning the highest score. As national champions, they will advance to the international round in Berlin, Germany.

The five team members were also exempted from the €700 registration fee for the global competition.
