The Contact Angle and Surface Tension Measurement Device (DSA100, Kruss) is available at the Central Laboratory of Shahid Beheshti University to serve researchers and scholars.
The technique of this device is based on observing the shape of a droplet on a surface and measuring the contact angle. It is used to determine the wettability characteristics and surface energy of a specific area on a solid surface. Understanding the behavior of a droplet on a surface is not only important for basic physics but also for many industrial processes and applications, such as cleaning, coating, printing, color science and technology, and more. The high level of automation with programmable methods provides contact angle and surface tension measurements, making it ideal for quality control. The surface tension of a hanging droplet, determined through image analysis, is considered a highly accurate method for measuring surface tension across a wide range of values. The wettability of reservoir rock and interfacial tensions between reservoir fluids play a crucial role in oil recovery efficiency.
