The book Water Conveyance Hydraulic Systems and Structures, authored by Dr. Homayoun Motiee, Associate Professor in the Faculty of Civil, Water, and Environmental Engineering at Shahid Beheshti University, has been published by the University Press.

This work was published for the first time in 2025, comprising 326 pages in a standard academic (vazir) format, and is available at a price of 2,950,000 IRR.

Water, as the foundation of life and the cornerstone of human civilizations, has always played a vital role in the sustainability of societies. In an era marked by climate change, population growth, economic development, uneven distribution of natural resources, and disruption of ecological balances, many regions of the world are facing severe water challenges. Under such conditions, water transfer has become an inevitable necessity for many countries.

Beyond supplying water to arid and water-scarce regions, water conveyance serves as a strategic solution for promoting regional balance, sustaining agriculture, ensuring food security, and preventing migration driven by water stress, while adhering to the principles of sustainable development.

In this book, efforts have been made not only to explain the fundamental principles and theories related to water conveyance systems and hydraulic structures, but also to address practical projects and real-world challenges. One of the distinguishing features of this work is the presentation of applied examples from implemented projects in Iran and around the world, familiarizing readers with real engineering experiences in this field.

The book provides a comprehensive overview of all hydraulic water conveyance systems, including open channels, pressurized pipelines, and structures such as canals, pipes, tunnels, and emergency spillways of dams. In addition, topics such as the design of pumping stations, hydraulic structures along conveyance routes, the water hammer phenomenon, and optimal routing of water transfer systems are examined in separate chapters. While some existing publications in the country focus solely on either open-channel or pressurized systems, the main advantage of this book lies in its comprehensive coverage of all these systems.

The primary audience of this book includes undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students in water engineering, as well as professionals and experts working in the water industry.

Those interested in obtaining the book may visit the sales office of the Scientific Publications Center of Shahid Beheshti University, located on the ground floor of the Information Technology (IT) Building, or place an online order through the Center’s website. The electronic version of the book is also available through the “Fidibo” and “Taghcheh” platforms.
