A doctoral dissertation and a master’s thesis by Shahid Beheshti University graduates were recognized as commendable works in cryptography and information security in 2024 by the Iranian Association of Cryptology.

Dr. Akram Khalessi’s doctoral dissertation and Ali Asghar Beigizad’s master’s thesis were honored during the closing ceremony of the 21st International Conference of the Iranian Association of Cryptology in the field of information security and cryptography.

Dr. Akram Khalessi’s doctoral dissertation, supervised by Dr. Zahra Ahmadian, a faculty member of the School of Electrical Engineering (Electronics and Telecommunications), was titled "New Methods for Automating Attacks on Symmetric Cryptographic Algorithms." The research focused on automating certain analysis methods for block ciphers, achieving notable results in analyzing some prominent block cipher algorithms in this field.

Ali Asghar Beigizad’s master’s thesis, supervised by Dr. Hadi Soleimani and advised by Dr. Farrokh-Lagha Moazzami Goudarzi, faculty members of the Cyberspace Research Institute, was titled "Proposal and Implementation of a New Fault Injection Attack." The thesis introduced a new fault injection attack called Link Fault Analysis, which is more powerful than conventional methods for breaking cryptographic algorithms.

The Iranian Association of Cryptology, chaired by Dr. Mohammad Reza Aref, annually recognizes outstanding doctoral dissertations and master’s theses in the fields of cryptography and information security. Evaluations are conducted by the conference’s permanent secretariat committee based on the association's regulations for selecting outstanding academic works. Awardees are honored during the closing ceremony of the International Conference of the Iranian Association of Cryptology.
